The best things anyone has to say about a person usually get said at their funeral. People stand up, tell stories, describe what someone meant to them — and the one person who needed to hear it isn't in the room.
That seemed backwards to us. Not because anyone is doing it wrong, but because there's never an obvious moment to gather it up while someone is still here to receive it. Birthdays come and go with a card. Retirements get a plaque. Weddings get a guestbook nobody opens twice.
So we built the moment. One link, a few good questions, and everyone who loves them records a short video from wherever they are. We stitch it into one reel and hand it over while it still matters.
Say it early
Nobody should have to be gone before they find out what they meant to people. The whole point is timing.
Make it easy or it won't happen
Anything that takes real effort to organize doesn't get organized. One link, no app, no editing, or people give up.
Keep it private
This isn't content and it isn't for strangers. Only the people invited ever see a reel, and it's never searchable.
“Folksee” joins folks — the people who matter most — with see. Being truly seen by the people who know you best is the entire thing.
Why we chose this format
There's a reason a reel works better than a card or a speech: people deflect love when you say it to their face, and a reel takes the room away so it finally lands.
